Cameroon and Congo to jointly exploit iron at the border

Cameroon and Congo plan to commonly exploit iron at the border between the two countries, the Cameroon Minister of Mines, Louis Paul Motaze announced Monday in Brazzaville at the end of a hearing with the Congolese president, Denis Sassou-Nguesso.

'My country attaches considerable importance to the common project linked to the exploitation Iron at the border of Cameroon and the Congo.

The area is called Mbala in Cameroon and Nabemba in the Congo', indicated Mr Motaze, explaining the benefit for the two countries to develop this joint project that has an inclusive character and is likely to stimulate the development of the mining sector in the two States.

According to the Minister, the meeting also focused on the hydroelectric dam of Cholet, which has a production capacity of 600 megawatts and which, he stressed, will help the economy of both countries.

'These are projects for which, Congo and Cameroon have a major advantage in the sense that the different multilateral donors are much attracted because they are systems integrators', said Mr Motaze.
