The African Development Bank (ADB) has pledged a loan of $ 110.69 billion FCFA to Cameroon for the financing of the first phase of a project of support to the transport sector, APA learnt Tuesday from the competent services of the Ministry of economy, planning and regional development.

The envelope is essentially dedicated to road works on the rehabilitation of the socio-economic infrastructure for the benefit of women and also to support urban development.

It carries as a priority the development of a segment of 595 kilometers providing a direct link between the northern and southern Cameroon, promoting parties also binding Interstate in Central Africa by offering a new alternative for transit to Chad and the Central African Republic.

The servicing of this axis, benefiting also from the competition of other technical and financial partners, will also promote the opening up of agricultural production basins in the central region.

The loan from the financial institution comes in the wake of the admission of Cameroon to the rank of 'mixed country', which allows it to be eligible for the two concessionary BAD Windows and non-concessional African Development Fund (ADF).
