Natural gas reserves in Cameroon are seen higher than previously evaluated, a new report by the government-run National Hydrocarbons Corp. shows.

"There is an upward reevaluation of natural gas reserves from 144 to 154 billion cubic feet," said the report.

Natural gas output stood at 9,160 million cubic feet between January-October 2014.

Two companies exploit gas and condensate in Cameroon. France's Perenco operates in the West African nation's Sanaga South offshore fields on the Atlantic coastal town of Kribi, while Britain's Victoria Oil and Gas, through its local affiliate, Gaz du Cameroun, drills onshore functions in the economic capital and port city of Douala, in the Logbaba field.

The Sanaga South fields produced 8,130 million cubic feet from January through October 2013, compared with 1,030 mcf during the same period came from Logbaba, the statement added.

SNH manages and markets Cameroon oil and gas industry for the government.
