The Cameroonian Ministry of Employment and Professional Development just organised in Yaoundé, the capital of the country, a roundtable for investors, to seek complementary funding to supplement the budget necessary for the implementation of the National Action Plan for youth employment (2016-2020), we officially learned.

Indeed, out of a global envelope valued at FCFA 135 billion, Minister Zacharie Perevet explained to potential investors, “FC 82 billion can be raised by the government via the budgets of the ministries with initiatives for the creation and promotion of youth employment. This is to say there is FCFA 53 billion gap to fill”.

As a reminder, to fight against youth unemployment, the Cameroonian government has put up several initiatives to promote youth self-employment.

These initiatives however lack coordination, as they are spread throughout several ministries (Youth, Employment, Agriculture, Fisheries, etc.), all independently of the National Employment Fund (FNE).
