An expression of interest for the recruitment of a consultant to undertake the development of document procedures within the operation of submarine cables in Cameroon has been launched by the Minister of Posts and Telecommications, Jean Pierre Biyiti bi Essam.

As part of this service the consultant will clarify the mechanisms of governance and operations of the West Africa Cable System (WACS), drawn by the MTN Cameroon, and propose a plan for operational management, business strategy and a regulatory framework ensuring open access.

Records of bidders are expected no later than July 23, 2014 in the service unit project coordination Banckbone Central Africa (CAB), funded by the World Bank Group.

As a reminder, Cameroon is already the landing point of three submarine cables, the WACS made by a consortium with the MTN Group, which already manages the SAT3 CAMTEL, and one that’s under construction linking Cameroon and Nigeria.

Two other submarine fibre optic cables have also been announced with a 5900 Km cable linking Brazil to Cameroon being the most recently revealed by DG CAMTEL.
