Cameroon trade and economic days to launch in Turkey

Cameroonian trade and economic days are to be launched in Turkey to give finance operators in both countries the opportunity to learn, establish and strengthen business relationships and sell their expertise.

The ‘Economic and Trade Days of Cameroon’, which will take place in October, in Ankara, were announced in a statement released by the Prime Minister, after the second session of the Economic, Cameroon-Turkey Joint Commission, held last Thursday and Friday, in Turkey.

It was also revealed that Yaounde, Cameroon's capital, will play host to an exhibition of Turkish products in September.

The plan is to hold the trade show in the newly established Turkish shopping centre, in the Mvan neighbourhood, built on a vast space of 6000 miles square, which is due to open this coming July.

Since the economic mission led by President Paul Biya, in Turkey, in March 2013, there has been an increase in the economic cooperation between Turkey and Cameroon, including significant investments made in the sectors of real estate and infrastructure, in particular the arrival of Turkish Airlines in the Cameroon sky, with its direct line from Douala to Istanbul.

Turkey also reveals plans are in the pipeline to open an office of its International Cooperation Agency (Tika) in Yaounde.

With the strengthening of economic ties between the two countries, Cameroon aims to have $500 million (250 billion CFA francs), by 2015, worth of trade volume between the two countries by 2015, currently estimated at about 75 billion CFA francs.
