Camrail celebrates 3 months inter city service success

Cameroon is slowly but surely going back to the Ahidjo days – a period when she did approach development with passion. Only three months after the Cameroon Railways Corporation aka CAMrail reintroduced the Inter City Service, the company told the world that, it now transports 100,000 passengers daily.

“This calls for celebrations” noted a spokesman for the company. The Inter City Service that was launched by Prime Minister Yang Philemon on May the 3rd 2014 has been a success story throughout the national territory.

The General Manger of Bollore Africa Logistics, Dominique Laffont that invested and revived the Cameroon Railways Corporation said in a statement that 100,000 passengers now use the Inter City trains and he expects the figure to keep rising.

Cameroon Inter City is a fast train service linking the North to the South and the two major cities: Douala and Yaounde. It now takes 3h 30 minutes from Douala to the nation’s capital Yaounde with first class going for 9,000 frs CFA and second class 6,000frs CFA.

Celebrating these three months of complete and total success, both the Board Chairman of the Cameroon Railways Corporation Hamadou Sali and the General Manager Quentin Gerard thanked the government of Prime Minister Yang Philemon for purchasing 40 new train coaches.
