The Central African subsidiary of the Cameroonian operator of petroleum products distribution Tradex, and Tristar, a "liquid logistics" company based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, signed on September 26, 2014 in Douala, "a contract of partnership (of a duration of one year) for the supply of petroleum products and lubricants to Central African Republic (CAR), in the framework of humanitarian missions", announced Tradex in a public release rendered October 23, 2014.

Controlled by the national society of hydrocarbons (SNH), Tradex first specialized in the trading of oil and marine bunkering, prior to diversify its activities later in the distribution of refined petroleum products. With a network of 72 service stations to date, Tradex, torchbearer of the nationals in the area of the distribution of petroleum products in Cameroon, is also present in the Central African Republic and Chad.

Since the outbreak of the political crisis affecting the Central African Republic, born of the overthrow of the regime of President Bozizé in March 2013, Tradex activities in the countries of the CEMAC zone have been seriously disrupted. After several months of inactivity, Tradex however reopened 20 service stations in the CAR in the month of August 2013, announced Emmanuel Tamnga, the commercial Director of the company, while inaugurating a new petrol station in September 2013 in Yaoundé.

In a statement released in January 2014, Adolphe Moudiki, ADG of SNH and PCA of Tradex, announced that this company with public capital has "improved its market share" in the distribution of petroleum products in the Cameroonian territory in 2013, after an increase of 23% on its sales in 2012, year at the end of which Tradex had posted a net profit up by 6%.
