Visiting Cameroon, Andy Fennell, President of the Africa Region of the British group Diageo, which produces the famous drink Guinness, said Cameroon is a strategic market for the brewer, as it is its "fourth largest market in the world."

Cameroon is also the 2nd largest market for Diageo in Africa after Nigeria, now recognized as the leading economic power on the continent, with its market of 120 million consumers.

To strengthen the position of Cameroon in their portfolio, the British group led several projects to develop its activities in the country.

One of their ambitions is to reduce its imports of raw materials, encouraging the production of cereals such as soya beans in the country.

Indeed, thanks to a project to increase the production of maize, cassava and sorghum, funded by the World Bank for an amount of 50 billion CFA francs, the local subsidiary of the beer company has signed a supply agreement with the Government of Cameroon.
