Cameroonian Jean-Claude Ngbwa, Secretary General of the Inter-African Conference on Insurance Markets (CIMA), visited Cameroon July 15 to prepare for an international meeting on micro-insurance organized by the insurance sector regulator for Central and West Africa in Douala which would take place from September 8 to 12, a CIMA statement said.

Dubbed "Microinsurance Learning Sessions," this international meeting will bring together the heads of insurance companies and experts who will focus on "Protecting small workers" aiming to educate participants on the importance of micro-insurance in Africa.

CIMA explained that micro-insurance "is an insurance mechanism to protect low-income people against specific risks. It is characterized primarily by low premiums and sums insured by the simplicity of the blankets, the flexibility of the subscription formalities, contract management, reporting of claims and compensation for victims.
