Express Union has just had the National Competition Council's (CNC) decision to impose a fine of over 600 million FCfa overturned.

Express Union had been dragged before the National Council on the claims that they are operating in unhealthy competition with Express Exchange.

They accused the domestic remittance market leader of “abusing its dominant position and being anti-competitive with Emi Money,” another remittance operator that has recently arrived on the market.

But the decision made in favour of Express Exchange, was reported by the Yaoundé District Court on June 30, 2014, in a release.

However, one can clearly ascertain that, while no confusion is possible with the Express Union brand, it is easy for undiscerning customers to confuse the Express Exchange and Emi Money brands in the sense that they do not only have the same graphics and colours, but the Emi Money have also placed its offices right next to those of Express Exchange.

This has been the reason for Express Exchange' claims against the partnership between Emi Money and Express Union.
