FAL calls for a decongestion exercise at the Douala port

The national Committee of facilitation of international maritime traffic (FAL Committee) advocates for decongestion exercise to be carried out at the port of Douala to increase its competitiveness. This resolution was taken at the end of the 58th annual session of this body in charge of facilitating maritime traffic in Cameroon.

The recent work session is marked by a worrying situation of the logistics supply chain for international trade in Cameroon.

The directly applicable measures are intended to create space thus the need for a decongestion at the Douala international terminal (DIT), and the removal of damaged products.

These measures will go to address the problem of delays and extra cost incurred by firms which has a negative impact on the economic growth that we are looking for at this moment. it also affects our exchanges with neighbouring countries ", says the president of FAL Committee, André Fotso.

The Committee expressed the wish that all authorities involved in the exports and imports chain apply the new measures to speed up the passage of goods at the Douala port where transit is more than 95 percent of the traffic of goods and more than 80 percent of the flow of goods in the direction of the Central African Republic and Chad.
