Five outstanding farming groups from the South West Region sponsored by the National Civic Service Agency for Participation in Development (NCSAPD) during its 2012 campaign have received FCFA 500,000 each as State encouragement in their activities.

Handing the total cash of FCFA 2.5 Million to the beneficiaries, last 28 November, 2014, in Buea the Secretary General at the South West Governor’s Office, Clement Fon Ndikum, urged the recipients to maximize use of the grants and be ready to prove judicious utilization whenever control comes their way.

The beneficiary groups include the Limbe Agro-Pastoral Group from Fako (plantains and poultry), the Young Farmers from Manyu (cocoa and plantains), Star Poultry Farmers from Kupe Muanenguba (poultry), Itumerah Group from Ndian (cassava and maize), and New Breeds Young Farmers Association from Meme Division (poultry).

In an elucidating presentation, the South West Regional Coordinator of NCSAPD, Enaw Daniel Agbor, explained that a fact-finding mission dispatched to the South West led by the Deputy General Manager of NCSAPD, Esua John Enow, combed the six administrative Divisions of the Region, 3-8 November, 2014 and came out with the five deserved groups among the 65 trained and sponsored in 2012.

The Regional Coordinator rolled out statistics of the NCSAPD activities in the Region to include the facts that 756 were trained in 2012 for 65 group-projects, 114 still operate within the groups, and 321 have gone solo.

The objectives of the survey included to reshape the functioning of NCSAPD and encourage youth participation in civic duties and development. The Agency expressed satisfaction through their Regional Coordinator that major hindrances have been uncovered with full grip exercised on the trainees on who the State has invested precious expertise and money.
