The prospects look good for Cameroon's cotton sector with the expected increase in production from SODECOTON.

At mid-term of the cotton campaign, sources close to the company provide an annual production of 270,000 tonnes, compared with 240,000 tonnes last season; a forecast increase of 30,000 tonnes.

While it is true that we would still be below the 300,000 tonnes produced a few years ago, it would be, the biggest increase in the country's cotton production in recent seasons.

Meanwhile, SODECOTON has to increase its capital from 19.1 billion CFA francs to 23.6 billion CFA francs, against 4.5 billion francs CFA in the past, an increase of nearly 600 percent of its capital.

Flagship of national agribusiness, the SODECOTON participates especially in the regulation of economic activity in the northern part of Cameroon, through framing of over 250 000 producers of cotton.
