Government has launched tenders worth 3 billion CFA francs for the construction of two complex packaging and storage of food products in selected production areas.

The establishment of these infrastructures should contribute to improving the supply of food products on the market, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development stressed.

Companies and firms interested in these two markets have until April 16, 2015 to submit their offers to Public Markets department.

One of the markets involve monitoring and technical control of the work for 300 million CFA francs, or 76 million CFA francs for each lot, while the other focuses on the achievement of actual work, 2.8 billion CFA francs at a rate of 720 million CFA francs for each of the four lots.

According to statistics of the Mission of regulation of consumer products supply (MIRAP), Cameroon lost nearly 25 percent of its post-harvest production because of lack of infrastructure for preservation and storage.
