Gov't to provide meat, fish transport

The main means of transport used by butchers and other traders to transport meat from the slaughterhouse to markets were by the trunk of a car, motorcycle and other means that exposed the meat and fish to bad temperature, weather and poor handling.

In order to improve the condition of foodstuffs including meat, the Minister of livestock, fisheries, and animal husbandry, Minepia has offered a means of transport to the decentralized territorial communities. The event took place on Wednesday at Yaoundé on the sidelines of the signing of the specifications by the Minister, Taiga and representatives of the beneficiaries.

In total, seven isothermal trucks capable of carrying carcasses 30, 15 tricycles, and seven motorcycles with a power of 3.6 kW, flats of handling fishery products and blouses of a $ 500 million F were presented in the decentralized territorial communities.

Beneficiaries include: urban communities like; Garoua, Bamenda, Maroua, Ebolowa and district communes of Dziguilao, Bafoussam I, Nkambe, Maroua III, Oku, Shane II, IX, and V, Sangmelima and Yaoundé IV, through the development of animal production Corporation (Sodepa).

For fishery products, the marine artisanal fisheries Development Fund (MHRC) and the Center Community of artisanal fisheries of Kribi (Cecopak) received each of the crates for handling fishery products.
