International Mining & Infrastructure Corporation plc (IMIC), unveiled on December 31, in an update, its intention to initiate this year, the final Nkout iron project feasibility study in the South of Cameroon. This is expected to lead to iron project as deposits reveal resources estimated at 2.7 billion tonnes.
The update highlighted on a portion of the resources estimated at 225 million tonnes to over 2.7 billion tonnes and an increase of 68 per cent of the total resources DSO 252Mt 43.2% of iron from the Nkout deposits.
IMIC intends to proceed with the deposit of Ntem, a smaller project which is sited 80 km from the port of Kribi, which it wants to accelerate feasibility studies on. This is deemed as crucial as it promises to be among other opportunities, a good iron project in West and Central African region.
"We have a strategy for an initial production in three years from the Ntem deposit presenting itself as the first iron ore to be exported from Cameroon," said Ethelbert Cooper, Chairman of IMIC.
