Imports of domestic gas increased by 9%

Dependence on imports of domestic gas increased by 9% between 2013 and the first quarters of 2014 in Cameroon, according to data published recently by the price of hydrocarbons Stabilization Fund.

These purchases, we learn, have thereby induced financial support of 33,387 billion CFA FRANCS for the benefit of households, or 75.67% of loads on the activity of the State Company of equalization which accuses of "a decline in cash".

It was noted that the level of the increase in imports has remained virtually the same as in 2012, being 50,000 metric tonnes (Mt) of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) representing 71% of national consumption.

According to statistics of the HSPC, the production of LPG by the national refining company (SONARA) increased from 25.697 TM between 1998 and 1999 to 9549 TM in 2012, while the level of imports flew exponentially (87%).
