The new Director General in the company for the production and distribution of electrical energy who took function Monday, August 11, 2014 will be installed Tuesday, August 19, 2014 by the Minister of energy and water, Basile Atangana Kouna.

After the departure of the Americans AES Corporation and the resumption of its share, 56% of the capital by the British Fund, Actis, a new wind is blowing on the management of this company.

Joël Nana Kontchou, electrical engineer trained at the École nationale supérieure polytechnique of Yaoundé is now at the head of Aes-Sonel/Actis, as top manager.

He replaces Jean David Bilé, who, for the moment, is maintained in the Group despite the controversies that reigns over his future position. The new Director General of Aes-Sonel/Actis took function officially Monday, August 11, 2014.

According to reliable sources, the first workday of the new boss is summarized in work meetings, contacts with collaborators and unannounced visit to an Aes-Sonel Agency in the city of Douala, including New-Bell having at the heart of the concerns, the relationship between Aes-Sonel and its customers, a relationship, which is not always the best with regards to complaints from the two entities on a daily basis.

It is said that Joël Nana Kontchou intends to sit down to improve the quality of customer service in terms of billing, payment of invoices, interventions in case of malfunctions, and regular provision of electrical energy. Joël Nana Kontchou aims to bring back the fundamentals of management during his commands at Aes-Sonel.

The former director general of West and Central Africa of petroleum services, Schlumberger, comes in a context where Cameroon lives in endless power failure, despite efforts made to improve energy supply.

Consumers continue to complain about the quality of the services. He also landed in Aes-Sonel/Actis at the moment where the British Fund has launched a competition to find a new name in place of Aes-Sonel.
