KPMO short-listed for management of multipurpose terminal at Kribi port

The Cameroonian consortium KPMO is among three companies that have been short-listed for the conquest of the multipurpose terminal at the Kribi port in Doula according to a release made by the Cameroonian Government on November 5, 2014.

KPMO which is a consortium of 9 Cameroonian operators (APM, 2M, Transimex, Sapem, 3T Cameroun, Cam-Transit, Copem, STAR et GOS) of the port sector, are seeking about 75% of the unloading of goods at the multipurpose terminal of the Kribi deep-sea port under construction in the southern region.

In the statement, KPMO consortium is in competition with the French operator Necotrans. Moreover, to snatch their first concession port in Cameroon, Necotrans and KPMO will have to win the battle against the Danish company APM Terminals, and Philippine ICTSI, two Juggernauts who, by order of merit, as said the release of the Prime Minister Philémon Yang, arrived before Necotrans-KPMO, at the end of the call for expression of interest.

It was also noted that APM Terminals and ICTSI, were also in the starting blocks for the concession of the same container terminal, this time above the Bolloré group.

Some reliable sources revealed that KPMO also aims at using the capital of the company to be incorporated under the concession of the container terminal at the Kribi deep sea port.
