MTN’s Cameroonian subsidiary increased its bid with the Cameroonian government to renew its GSM licence along with 3G and 4G.
The company’s bid has moved from 35 to 65 billion FCFA while the Cameroonian government has maintained the required amount at 75 billion FCFA. In addition, although the Cameroonian government has required 75 billion FCFA for a 10-year licence, MTN Cameroon wished to extend the duration to 13 years.
According to the same sources, so far the Cameroonian government has not yet announced its position in relation to MTN’s new bid.
For its part, Orange Cameroon, which is also negotiating its 3G and 4G licence, has maintained its initial bid of 40 billion FCFA. There should be some changes in the next days as the licences have officially expired.
