Abandoned since April 24, 2014 by the company Galdiano, Mengong-Sangmélima road construction site will be relaunched next week with another group. After nine months suspension on project, work will resume on the axis to link Sangmelima and Ebolowa the capital of the South through Mengong.

This Tuesday, January 14, 2015 in Ebolowa, Jules Marcellin Ndjaga the Governor of the Southern Region chaired a meeting for the revival of the construction of this road.

During this meeting, it was noted among other priorities: validation of the trace, Census and property assessment and the implementation of the commitments.

Concluding on an amount of $49.9 billion Cfa Francs and a turnaround time of 30 months, Mengong-Sangmélima (74 Km) road construction project was signed in June 2011. The work came to a halt on July 11, 2011 after difficulties stemming from problematic compensation along the 33 villages on the route. The Galdiano Construcciones Group was thereafter declared bankrupt and hence abandoned the project on April 24.
