The new plan for telephone number system in Cameroon (8 to 9 digits) will enter into force as of November 21, according to an official statement made public on Tuesday by the ministry of Post and Telecommunications.

This new swing will make it possible for the country to have a theoretical capacity of approximately 800 million numbers.

This is explained by the resultant saturation of the current plan characterized by the significant exhaustion of the sections of numbers allocated with the operators for a market which currently counts some 16 million users.

It is also about a measurement of prevention because of recent arrival on the market of Nexttel, which holds the 3rd national licence of mobile telephone.
