Statistics from the Cameroon Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MINPOSTEL) reveal that only 400,000 people are connected to the Internet in the country, equivalent to a penetration rate of 5%, far below the African average of 18%.

The origin of this delay in the appropriation of the internet as explained telecoms experts, is the high costs charged by operators who are active in the country, themselves are a result of the existing infrastructure quality.

Indeed, in a country like Cote D'Ivoire, an internet megabite costs 47,000 CFA francs, while in Cameroon, it is up to 236,000 CFA francs, five times more expensive.
