In 2016, the first racetrack in sub-Saharan Africa could be inaugurated in Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon as revealed by “La Lettre du Continent”, who also announced that a delegation of six senior government officials from Cameroon will stay in Paris from June 17, 2014 to move this development forward.

During the Paris mission, the Cameroonian delegation will meet officials of Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU), and a French economic interest grouping (GEI) specializied in bets on horse racing, and have 57 companies in the world, including Cameroon.

According to “La Lettre du Continent”, the Douala racetrack should be a copy of the equestrian complex Mauquenchy-Rouen, located in the department of Seine Maritime, in the west of Paris. It is, an equestrian complex built over an area of 315 hectares reserve "trot on a track of 1300 meters of sand."
