It is government’s effort to populate the Bakassi area, create jobs and enhance development.

The entire population of Ndian has been sensitized on government’s plan to extend Pamol Farms Plantation PLC to Monsongisele in the Bakassi peninsula. A two-day seminar to this effect was organised by the General Manager of Pamol Plantations PLC, Chief Mekanya Charles Okon.

In his opening speech, the SDO for Ndian, Ntou’ou Ndong Chabeline highlighted that the Pamol extension programme is one of government’s effort to populate the Bakassi area, create jobs and enhance development within Bakassi zone.

He added that the project will come alongside other benefits like creation of schools, roads, hospitals and many more social and infrastructural infrastructures. On this note, he called on the population to support and participate in the project.

During the seminar, participants were educated on some sensitive issues that will likely come up before, during and after the execution of the project. Barrister Eyambe Elias Ebai presented a paper on Land Tenure Law in Cameroon as distinct from traditional land acquisition and disposal system.

He emphasized that every land which is not registered belongs to the State, thereby encouraging the people to get title deeds for the land properties so as to get adequate compensation in cases where their properties are affected by the project.

The Divisional Delegate for Land Tenure, Survey and State Property for Ndian, Asukwa Victor called on all denizens to get their properties registered in a bid to give them the due rights.

Kamangje Albert, an administrator with the Pamol Farms PLC, indicated that government’s choice of Bakassi for this project is geared toward settling a huge and permanent Cameroonian population in the Bakassi zone following its complete hand over to Cameroon in 2013.

Agoons Daniel also did a presentation on the impact of the extension project of Pamol Plantation PLC on the local communities. Justice Mbiatem Charles rounded off the seminar with a presentation on compensation and other benefits of the extension on the local communities.
