Charles Michaux Moukoko Njoh, a former interim manager of the Douala Ports Authourity, PAD, has once more been appointed interim General Manager of the corporation. He was appointed last Friday by the board of directors during an ordinary session held in Yaounde.
Moukoko was appointed by the PAD board of directors following a prolonged absence of the corporation’s general manger, Etoundi Oyono from the country. The PAD general manager is yet to return to the country since he left Cameroon on an official mission to Amsterdam – Holland, September 21.
Oyono left for Amsterdam as part of a government delegation led by Louis Paul Motaze, the then Secretary General at the Prime Minister’s Office, now Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development. The mission to Amsterdam, we learned, was to receive a multi-purpose vessel meant for service at the Douala seaport. However, while delegation members have since returned, the where about of Oyono remains unknown.
Oyono’s absence has since resulted to severe pile-up at the Douala seaport as all official documents, be they approvals to authorize certain services to be carried out or for other purposes, could not be carried out without authorized signature or stamp.
Etoundi Oyono, PAD General Manager missing since September.
Contrary to wide speculations that Oyono escaped for fear of arrest and imprisonment over allegations of fraud and embezzlement of public funds, it is alleged that he hasn’t actually absconded, that he was rather hospitalized in a French hospital since September for an undisclosed ailment.
In the meantime, the new interim general manager has been tasked to contribute to ameliorating, and harmonization of PAD services and equipment.
