Retired US Congressman to create jobs in Cameroon

Recently retired New York Congressman in the United States of America, Ed Towns has declared that he will create many jobs in the energy sector for Cameroonians.

He made this declaration last August 16 during a press conference he granted alongside his Cameroonian host, the Chief Executive Officer of the Cameroonian company for the exploration and distribution of petroleum products better known by its French acronym as SOCAEPE, Alain Guy BELLHOMO at the Yaoundé head office of the company.

The visiting USA former Congressman was accompanied by Reginald Fluelleo in a delegation headed by Cameroonian born Vice President of Chase Bank, Guillaume LOKA based in the United States of America.

The American trained social worker, Ed Towns who served as US Congressman for 30 years told reporters that “My passion is to better the lives of many. And an accurate way to arrive at that is through the creation of jobs both in Cameroon and in America. I decided to team up with SOCAEPE in order to advance economic development and job creation both in Africa and America.

On his part, the Chief Executive Office of SOCAEPE, Alain Guy Bellhomo while saluting the patriotic attitude of the Cameroonian born Vice President of Chase Bank, Guillaum LOKA for linking up the American Congressman with Cameroon, explained that during the stay of their august guests in the country, they held working talks on how to go about with the job creation target with SOCAEPE to strengthen local African’s competitiveness in the oil industry.

The press conference was also attended by a partner of SOCAEPE, Administrator of General Petroleum Engineering, Jean Jules MINLO.

Ed Towns during his 30-year career in the United States House of Representative serving Brooklyn’s 10th Congressional district where he served on the powerful Energy and Commerce Committee. He hinted that it was there that he learned how energy could be used as a stimulus for economic growth and how commerce could play a central role in technology transfer and skills acquisition. While in America, Ed Towns supported President Obama’s “Power Africa” initiative which supports energy development throughout Africa.

Before the delegation came to Cameroon, they are said to have made a stop over in Paris, France where they met with the President Director General (PDG) of SOCAEPE, Jean Claude Bekolo who was accompanying Cameroon President Paul Biya at the invitation of French President, François Hollande.
