The vice-president of Rio Tinto Alcan, was present in Yaounde to sign the memorandum of understanding for the transfer of the shares of mining giant in the Alucam group, was unable to fulfill their mission.

Pierre Chénard who left Hong Kong for a stopover of a few hours in Yaoundé to sign the memorandum with the Government for the transfer of shares (46.7%) of Rio Tinto Alcan in the Alucam group, spent most of the day on October 24 at the Hilton hotel, waiting to be invited by the Minister of finance, Alamine Ousmane Mey, and his counterpart from industry Mines and technological development, Emmanuel Bonde. But eventually, the head of legal services of Rio Tinto Alcan was informed that the Cameroonian authorities are still examining the document transmitted for weeks by the mining giant for amendments.

The ATR accepted the excuse as these negotiations relate to a number of complex issues.
