An intensive and extensive five-day road safety campaign carried out by the Meme delegate of Transport has brought FCFA 654 000 into the state treasury.

The campaign consisted in checking vehicle documents and road safety worthiness as well as other aspects concerning the travelers and their luggage, Daybreak was told by the Meme delegate for Transport, Njilah Isaiah Tata.

The delegate, who also addressed the perennial problem of corruption, said he cannot be indifferent to the complaints on this issue but advised the press to investigate information given them and ensure it is given in all fairness.

He noted that corruption is a two-way traffic involving the giver and receiver and that the giver should be the first person to be arrested when punishment is being meted out.

Njilah Isaiah further observed that vehicle and commercial bike owners who give bribe are persons without authentic road documents.

HE advised them to desist from bribing officials of the ministry of transport who control vehicles.
