South Korea Gov't agrees to assist Cameroon

The Ambassador of South Korea to Cameroon, His Excellency Cho June-Hyuck and the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Nganou Njoumessi have signed an agreement on financial assistance from the South Korean government.

Accordingly, the South Korean government undertakes to offer a four billion CFA package to the government of Cameroon for the development of the public contracts and professional training sectors in Cameroon.

• On professional training, the fund shall be used to put in place a national institute of Vocational Trainers and Programme Development.

• Concerning the Public Contracts sector, the Cameroon government shall adopt a system of On-line contract award and also make other relevant changes aimed at improving the contract award process in the country.

The South Korean government has also promised to offer training to experts in specific areas relevant to the two projects.

It is worth noting that government, before the finalization of the aid package, had already allotted land for the construction of the Vocational institution and three excellent centers in Limbe Douala and Sangmelima.
