The Minister of Finance received in audience the American diplomat on September 19.

The Ambassador of the United States of America to Cameroon, Robert P. Jackson has described as good the business climate in the country.

Speaking to the press after an audience granted him by the Minister of Finance, Alamine Ousmane Mey on Thursday September 19, 2013, Robert P. Jackson said, "The business climate in Cameroon is very good as evidenced by the fact that we see more and more American investments in the country".

However, he thinks efforts need to be redoubled to render the country more investment-friendly. "But there are additional changes that we need to make and I think the Business Forum that the government and the private sector have engaged in is a way to ensure dialogue for the additional changes," the diplomat noted.

Ambassador Robert P. Jackson said his meeting with Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey was to discuss the state of relations between Cameroon and America during the three years that he has served as ambassador in the country notably projects jointly financed by the two countries in the energy and water sectors. "We talked about project financing because, it is important both for Cameroon as it proceeds with the Greater Accomplishment programme and my country which is trying to support those efforts. We also talked about changes in US financial laws that will have an impact on Cameroon's banking sector."
