Venezuela has just announced a donation of USD 5 million in total, thus FCfa 3 billion, to contribute to the development of the agricultural sector in 10 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including Cameroon.
The other countries who will benefit from this donation are Guinea, Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda, the Chinese press agency Xinhua announced.
This funding, we learned, will be concretely used to set up agricultural development projects, mechanisation, seed improvement and agricultural products processing mechanisms.
As a reminder, Venezuela, a Latin American country best known for its oil production, is not itself that powerful in terms of agriculture. Thanks to the oil windfall, this country imports most of its food products, mainly from the United States and Colombia.
