WB operations chief poised for Cameroon working visit

The Director of management and head of World Bank operations (WB), Sri Mulyani Indrawati, is due in Cameroon from 24 to 26 April for a working visit, official sources disclosed on Monday.With the authorities, the WB official will review the country’s economic performance and its resilience capacity in the face of international financial crisis while identifying the barriers to inclusive growth, structural reforms and measures to improve the business climate.

Indrawati will also exchange with partners of financial institutions on the social safety net program targeting the needy, the success of strategic projects and the revival of development schemes in the Far-North contending with attacks and abuse by the Nigerian Islamist sect Boko Haram.

On 30 April, 2014, the WB’s range of interventions in Cameroon consisted of 23 implemented projects, estimated at $1.17 billion.

These projects were funded by the International Development Association (IDA), the Global Environment Fund (GEF) and trust funds.
