World Bank supports agric sector with 50b CFA francs

The World Bank, on the basis of the Governing Council which was held on September 25, 2014, approved the granting of an IDA (International Development Association) credit for an amount of 50 billion CFA francs for the investment and development of agricultural markets in Cameroon (Pidma) project.

This appropriation is intended to assist Cameroon to transform its agricultural sector and support its producers of cassava, sorghum and corn, by giving them more lucrative access to agricultural and food markets.

This project launched in 2013 in collaboration with the World Bank is to contribute to the improvement of food security and meet the quantitative and qualitative demand for agricultural products for private agro-business (agro-industry, small and medium business/industries, wholesalers...). it intends to create partnerships between agricultural producers in order to increase not only the quality, but also the added value of the Cameroonian products. 300 organizations of producers and 30,000 farm households are concerned.
