CWB on Maiden Visit to Country

The charity is in Cameroon at the invitation of the cricket federation to combat HIV/AIDS through the game.

A delegation from the British charity, 'Cricket Without Boundaries', CWB, is in Cameroon since November 9th at the invitation of the Cameroon cricket federation to help promote the game of cricket in schools and at the same time combat the spread of HIV/AIDS.

The visit to end on November 24th falls within the framework of a four-year partnership with the Cricket federation.

During their stay in the country, the CWB delegation comprising nine volunteers, held a series of training session with some teachers from pre-selected schools in Yaounde and Buea, on how to train children in the game of cricket.

The high point of the activities in Yaounde was a joint cricket festival for schools at the playground of the Lycée Leclerc during which there was an exhibition match between a local selection and the Commonwealth selection including members of CWB.

The CWB also offered some cricket equipment to some schools and the Cameroon Cricket federation.

Despite their busy schedule, the CWB volunteers met with sports authorities in the country and were also offered a reception by the British High Commissioner to Cameroon, Bharat Joshi.
