The body of 12-year-old Manuella who committed suicide drinking large amount of bleach in her room has been sent to the Bonassama district hospital morgue.
The tragedy happened in Loum where the victim lived with her grandmother.
She was the one who later found Manuella rolling over in agonising pain in the room, after drinking the toxic product. She was rushed to Loum hospital where she passed away.
According to the police, Manuella got pregnant and could not stand the embarrassment she had to face. Perhaps she thought the solution was to take her life.
As per her grandmother’s account, she noticed Manuella was unwell but upon further scrutiny, she found out that she was pregnant.
Manuella eventually admitted it claiming that she has been raped several times by her uncle during the Easter holidays in Douala.
She stated that she did not say it because her uncle had threatened to take her out if she ever told the story to anyone.
Manuella’s grandmother passed out when the news of Manuella's death was broken out to her and is currently in coma.
The alleged perpetrator of the crime is also on the run according to police report.
