2 suspects arrested, following the disappearance of children at Briqueterie

This recent arrest marks a giant step in this case which created a lot of panic around the Briqueterie neighbourhood in Yaoundé.

During a recent raid in the area in the company of a delegation including representatives of the security forces, the departmental delegates of Social Affairs, the promotion of women and family among others, the sous-prefet of Yaoundé II, Yampen Ousmanou revealed the arrest of two suspects.


They were arrested on August 10, while they were trying to abduct two other children.


This new kidnappings were prevented thanks to the vigilance of the people in the area. Guided by councils of advisers, the sub-prefect, during various meetings with families and traditional leaders in this sector, remained on the alert.


The police were called immediately as a mother noticed that a man was trying to steal her 15-month-old child.

According to information of the sous-prefet, the two suspects are in operation for the purposes of inquiry, and "in principle, they should already have been referred to the Prosecutor's office."


The investigation is ongoing; more details were not disclosed, including the nature of the suspects or the fate of abducted children in this district of Yaoundé about a month ago, and 2011 on similar cases.


In an interview the sous-prefet of Yaoundé II talked about the circumstances of the arrest of the two suspects and the continuation of the judicial investigation.
