29 Burkinabe’s, 4 Nigerians, 3 Senegalese and 2 Guineans have been sentenced to 3months imprisonment at the Bafoussam Central Prison.
Soné Ngollé Bomé, prison registrar contacted by telephone, acknowledged the presence of these foreigners in his prison and revealed that they were held on the counts of illegal migration and suspected Boko Haram activities.
He called on journalists to handle the matter with care especially as it concern the Islamic sect which by the mere mention of their name, the population panicked. Situations of illegal immigration are stigmatized by all countries around the world and Cameroon is well organized in this area.
He noted that, “We're here to keep the detainees in the best possible conditions and will hadle situation to the best of our capacity with our not up to date skills", he said.
According to testimonies from prisoners, a serious apostolate work is being carried out in this penitentiary institution. "For more than 4 days, detainees were stopped from carrying out drug trafficking thanks to the Commissioner!", revealed Mowha Franklin, human rights defender.
