After boarding a taxi from Bali to Ngangue, Cynthia rather found herself along the Airport Highway.

In a bid to reach the church premises early enough for the Wednesday prayer meeting, Cynthia M. left her house at 6 pm. She boarded a taxi from her Bali residence, en route for Ngangue where her church is found. Little did she imagine she was seated among hoodlums.

She was seated on the back seat with a man, while another male passenger was in front with the driver. After a few metres, the passenger sitting next to her asked her what she was carrying in her handbag. At first, the question appeared strange, but not suspicious. What actually drew her attention was when the driver increased the vehicle's speed and then took a different direction.

Only then did she realise that she was in "rough hands". Then her "neighbour" seized her bag, searched it from which he removed FCFA 35.000 alongside her cell phone. When they ensured there was nothing more for them, they dropped her on the highway leading to the Douala International Airport. Before leaving, they instructed her not to shout but gave her FCFA 1.000 as transport fare to get back to town.
