Bertoua:17-year-old girl, raped, infected with HIV

In Bertoua, regional capital of the East, a girl of 17 raped by two boys of about 25 years, was infected with HIV, reported Cameroon Tribune.

The victim explained the day after the act, the circumstances of the tragedy to some officials of a center dedicated to the victims of violence, located at Tigaza.

Her tormentors were hidden in a dark corner, and started following her. They took advantage of the darkness of the area, to abuse her. Her sister who accompanied her succeeded to escaped the trap set by the two rapists, one reads.

The girl was referred to the hospital for proper care. At the regional hospital of Bertoua, medical examination confirmed rape. The HIV test was also imposed. She was declared HIV positive, after exams.

The girl claims that she was contaminated with HIV during the rape.
