A 50-year-old man suspected to be a member of Boko Haram has been arrested by officers of the ESIR in Yaoundé and is undergoing interrogations.
The arrest took place mid-day yesterday a few miles from "Carrefour Zibi" , in the Mendong neighbourhood, an area which has been under direct surveillance by security forces.
Following an anonymous call citing the presence of suspicious individuals, elements of the ESIR arrived on the scene within a few minutes dressed in their instantly recognisable black uniform.
About 13 hours 24 minutes after journalists left the scene, they were leaving with the suspect who sat shirtless and handcuffed in the back of a police Land Cruiser pick-up, under the watchful eye of the Cameroonian Police.
The latest news from the north show the kidnapping of the wife of the Deputy Prime Minister Amadou Ali, after an ambush perpetrated by the Islamic sect Boko Haram.
