Two suspected fake money dealers, Ferdinand Cheukep Sandjo, 43 and Jacques Etoga Etoga, 20, are in custody at the National Gendarmerie headquarters in Yaounde.

They were arrested on Sunday August 27, 2012 at the Emombo neighbourhood in Yaounde for allegedly getting involved in counterfeit money deals. Reports say the suspects as well as several others who are still on the run are specialised in duping people and collecting huge sums of money from them promising to double their money. According to the reports, the dealers hang around strategic corners in the city in search of desperate people to deceive and extort several millions.

A source at the Central Judicial Research Unit of the National Gendarmerie said the operation was made possible with the support of the population who gave the gendarmes necessary information on the suspects' fraudulent activities such as swindling and counterfeiting, among others.
