A joint team of elements of the Special Teams for Rapid Intervention in the city of Douala and those of the 16th District Public Security Police Station for the Yassa neighborhood have arrested a young man in the act of raping a seven-year-old child.
The suspected rapist was caught on October 5, 2015, in Abwang Bakoko neighborhood a few metres from the Dibamba Leprosy Centre.
The suspect rapist, 34-year-old Ferdinand Tchoumelen, was caught in the act at about 3.00pm in an abandoned building around the Abwang Bakoko neighborhood, in the Douala III Council area.
The suspect was surprised by a joint team of elements of the Special Teams for Rapid Intervention in Douala and those of the 16th District Public Security Police Station at Yassa, led by the unit head, Superintendent of Police Mahamat Boundou Alhal.
Tchoumelen was caught as he was sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl, Phalone T. in the abandoned building. The victim was taken to the hospital for medical checkup.
Meantime, the rapist was taken to the Police Station where investigations are ongoing.
