Police have identified and arrested one of his friends who last spoke to him on phone.

A man suspected of murder has been arrested and placed in custody in Bonanjo. Bouem was taken to custody for further inquiries following the grievous murder of 37-year-old Fritz Agbor Eseme, erstwhile Spectrum worker, at about 3 am recently in one of New Bell's slums.

Grieve overwhelmed New Bell residents in the Douala II Subdivision recently. The expression is a brief description of eyewitness' faces who mistook a fatal drama to be an ordinary attack by hoodlums as often is the case in the area. Unfortunately, Agbor Eseme was target of the brutal onslaught that immediately took his life away.

Police quotes a neighbour to the incident as saying she overheard a shrill cry like that of a woman in pain of labour but could not make out who it was and what was happening. Haunted by previous happenings in the neighbourhood, she feared verification altogether but alerted an elder of the house who reportedly noticed from a distance four men fidgeting with another. Lying dead in a pool of his own blood was the former Spectrum worker. His car stood nearby.

The story is told that Agbor Eseme was returning from Yaounde when he rang one of his former colleagues, a certain S. A. Bouem for a rendezvous at the slum. When he arrived on board his car and was about discussing with the friend, three bandits armed with pointed daggers stabbed him several times on the back. The armed men escaped taking nothing from him.

Meanwhile, an Express Union receipt in his car representing money he sent to his wife in Tiko that same day helped the police inform her of the macabre incident. The corpse was conveyed to a local mortuary.
