The DRPJ department at the Centre has just put an end to armed robberies organised to plunder vehicles using this route. The Yaoundé-Bafoussam axis, specifically in the locality around Entrée lycée technique d’Obala, is finally safe to use.

On this section of the national n ° 4, a group of bank robbers had established their quarters.

Towards the end of year celebrations last year, a gang of four young men aged 26 to 30 years had marked this place for their robbery activities. From around midnight to 2 o'clock in the morning, these individuals, then un-identified would mount roadblocks to slow down vehicles plying the road in order to rob them.

According to information gleaned at the regional Division of the judicial police (DRPJ) of the Centre, they feigned an accident that made vehicles slow their pace at the sight of the clumps of leaves arranged by the thugs on the pavement, as warning signals to avoid a possible shock.

They even lured targets into stopping to rescue the so-called accident victims, then the attackers will leave their hideouts to rob passengers, armed with machetes and two homemade guns.

When the victims filed a complaint at the Obala police station and notified, the Chief of Nkometou, the DRPJ at the Center opened an investigation.

On December 31, 2014, a prime suspect, Noah Ahanda Dagobert Fabrice was arrested. He later confessed and mentioned the names of his three accomplices.

He was referred to the military court, but his accomplices were at large. On 19th February 2015 one of the other three suspects, Nkolmelanga Théophile alias Lebane was apprehended.

On interrogation, he gave away other accomplices; Ekouda Jean and Afana Tsala Benjamin, aka Otaka. The latter had on him one of the artisanal rifles.
