Twelve armed men who are suspected to be Bororos intercepted passengers at the Douala-Bafoussam heavy axis at a place called deuxième pont, three kilometres from Bafang on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, stripping them of all their belongings.
These highway robbers operating in Bafang attacked a pick-up truck carrying cocoa and some passengers. These victims fell into the ambush laid by the robbers at a place called deuxième pont around two o'clock in the morning.
According to reports, these gang of 12 people with weapons attacked the occupants of the vehicle. One of the members of the gang, broke the windscreens of the van with his weapon and forced the occupants out of the vehicle. "We were then stripped of everything we had: key and documents of the car, road charges and the sum of forty thousand which I was carrying", noted a victim. Another bus carrying fifteen passengers also suffered the same fate.
A traveller, in his fifties was wounded in the neck in an attempt to flee attack in his Rav4. He managed however to alert, the police who arrived on the scene around 4:30. An investigation was opened to track culprits who are still at large. According to one of the victims, they could be Bororos since they expressed themselves in fufulde.
