The unscrupulous individuals have been a bone in the flesh of animal farmers for months.

Three men suspected of rampant goat and pig theft are presently gnashing their teeth behind bars at the Gendamerie Brigade in Penja, Moungo Division. They are Obi Jacob, Rodrigue Ummgah and Long-Pierre Nisse, caught on Sunday September 15 around 6am.

According to information from one of the Gendarme officers in charge the affair, Remy Mbock (contacted on phone), they received a call from an inhabitant, about the presence of thieves in his animal farm. The elements of the gendarmerie were immediately dispatched to the site, which yielded to the arrest of the three hoodlums, caught red-handed.

Our source added that they had been in search for the bandits, after receiving eight complaints from the local population, mostly concerning the disappearance of their animals. Back at the brigade, two of the suspects confessed their implication in the crimes, explaining that they usually poison food and give to the animals, before transporting them for onward sales at the Douala Central Market.
