A single mother of three has been remanded in custody after throwing her new-born baby into a latrine.
The gruesome discovery shocked residents of Dshang after the baby was rescued from its sordid surroundings at around 8am last Friday, a far cry away from cribs and cradles intended for babies barely out of the womb.
Sadly he was already dead, having presumably been discarded into the latrine at night by his mother, Mary Jiongo.
Suspicions were raised when Jiongo’s children were taken aback by the sudden disappearance of their eight month pregnant mother’s baby bump.
"I threw this child because I already had three. In addition, my husband and I have been separated for three months. I suffer alone, I have delivered him in my room, and I do not know what to do that’s why I have chosen to get rid of him,” Jiongo confessed to stunned police officers.
According to our sources, the baby was buried and his workaholic mother remains in custody cells until her first court appearance which is due in the coming days.
