Ulrich Ngami, 2nd rank police at the office of the Commissioner of the 3rd district in Douala, suffered a fatal accident at Camp Bertaud when a taxi driver hit him and fled thereafter.
According to the police report, the yellow car was stopped a few minutes later during a checkpoint at a place called carrefour Deux-églises and the car was confiscated. While GPx went to put the keys of the vehicle in the office, he noticed the taxi driver had a spare key.
The officer immediately went after him and on a motor bike. During the chase, the motor eventually hit the speeding taxi which smashed him to the ground leaving dead at the spot.
His body has been taken to the Laquintinie hospital mortuary while the driver is still on the run. Police inspector Guy Ango left behind wife, his daughter and two of his nieces at Ngwei.
